Revelation 2:20 is not a license to “presume, assess, and size up ” and /doggedly  hunt “Jezebels” in the congregation, around your area. (typecasting misogynist anti woman, plainly bigoted) (fraidy cat, weak whimp).
It is a sobering word to every overseer and gatekeeper:
1. Be brave.
2. Be clear.
3 Confront the real spirit — in love and truth.
4. Do not fear pushback.
5. Protect the flock; do not tolerate deception, whatever its gender, title, or popularity.

Nicolaitans, Jezebel & Gatekeeping — A Candid Look at Fleshly* Control vs. Holy Spirit Freedom (* fling of the flesh)

POINT: The tolerance of “Jezebel,” a manipulative spirit.

What do these have in common?

Both are works of the flesh — not the Holy Spirit.

Jezebel represents fleshly manipulation, sexual or emotional control, and a pushy influence that tries to dominate relationships and spiritual direction.

 How does this relate to Gatekeeping?

Gatekeeping, in its true biblical sense, means guarding the door:

• Protecting the flock from wolves (Acts 20:28–31 KJV).

• Holding leaders to Christ’s standard (1 Peter 5:2–3 KJV).

But when gatekeeping is done in the flesh, it turns Nicolaitan:

• Leaders become self-appointed gate-lords, deciding who is “in” or “out” based on fear, control, or status.

• People are labeled “rebellious,” “unsubmitted,” “witch,” or “Jezebel” when they simply ask healthy questions or follow the Holy Spirit for themselves.

• Gatekeepers stop pointing people to Jesus the true Door (John 10:9 KJV) and instead build fences around their own kingdoms.

Jezebel controls by seduction and fear.

Nicolaitans control by rank and oppression.

Fleshly gatekeeping feeds both.

1. Walk in the Light (1 John 1:7 KJV).

4. Reject any spirit — male or female, person, Christian authority— that manipulates, demands complete authority top dog control (MY way or the Highway)/rule, micromanage, wears down, puts fear on the people, uses methods bearing fruit of  seduction, or rules from the flesh.

God’s true gatekeepers are watchmen and servants, not dictators and fear-mongers.

 Conclusion: Burn the Nicolaitan Ladder

• If the local fellowship looks more like a human pyramid than an organic Body — the Nicolaitan spirit is at work.
• If leaders are terrified to correct controlling people — the lampstand dims.
• If we all love one another, serve one another, and submit first to Christ — the Nicolaitan ladder and Jezebel’s throne both fall down.
