LESSON: “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”
Proverbs 18:22 ESV
POINTS
1. The man pursues and seeks —
but he does not settle or compromise just to get any woman.(to look popular)
2. The woman develops self-assessment, self-respect, self-value, and self-worth.
She inwardly knows she is worthy of NOT settling, and not lowering her standards or values just to “have a man in her life.” (to look good)
3. Bottom line:
A Christian man and woman each hold value as whole, true persons —
and both must agree that they are sent by God to each other.
4. Along the journey, life will feel like a long, adventurous video game —
full of emotional highs, deep lows, great rewards, hidden dangers, and surprising challenges, along with joy and victory along the way.
5. Through all of this, both must continually rise up, mature, and measure up.
MAIN POINTS
Traditionally, the man seeks a good woman.
But the woman is not hunting (putting the bait out there) or searching frantically for a Christian man.

Why?
Because she is preparing for:
• what she truly wants
• who she truly is
• what God has called her to be
So that…
if / when / as the right God-sent man arrives,
she will already be grounded in her own values, dignity, confidence, and practical readiness —
and therefore she will not accept anyone who is below her standards.
And any any valuable Christian MAN will want that
THE MAN SEEKS — BUT HAS ALREADY DISCOVERED HIS PROVIDER ENERGY
Understanding God’s Design for Pursuit, Provision & Partnership
From the beginning of Scripture to the rhythms of real-life relationships today, God clearly places the initiative of seeking a wife upon the man.
Proverbs 18:22 says:
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord.”
Notice that this oft quoted major Bible verse says:
-
it does not say “she who finds a husband,”
-
nor “she who hunts one down,”
-
nor “she who pursues a man”
The emphasis rests upon the man.
The godly man pursues, searches, seeks, and discerns.
A godly woman becomes…discovers, decides, makes big plans, does not covet or is afraid..of being alone. She realizes that God is her source, her identity and her saving core purpose.
Psalm 121, Psalm 127:1
So she prepares.
She grows.
And she flourishes.
But she does not ‘tolerate” “nor accept” less.
Nor does she chase, nor diminish herself or any person, in order to attract.
I. The Seeking Man: His Initiative Matters
The Bible and life both teach this:
A mature man: (meaning “mature”as emotionally mature, financially mature, practical, realistic life view also mature)
-
prayerfully seeks
-
investigates character
-
looks for substance
-
observes consistency
-
asks the Lord for wisdom
-
measures his own readiness
-
accepts responsibility
This is not casual, emotional wandering.
It is intentional, thoughtful, and reverent.
Because marriage is not an accident — it is a covenant (before the AlmightyLord Most High)
(Other than the Bible beliefs, the Core Character and Real Life Issues) And this Means “ Is the other person SENT FROM GOD or not!”
PS Plus I believe in GOD CALLED but chemistry, too . but much more later about this..(for we must define the extent of choices in Christ in that ..due to what is out there, accepted and common)

II The Core Component Fighting Most Pure Ministries and Real Life Homes, Families, Couples…is
PROVIDER ENERGY WITH RESPONSIBILITY & HUMILITY
A striking phrase circulating today in identity and relationship discussions is:
“Provider Energy.”
And—surprisingly—it harmonizes with Scripture.
Provider energy does not merely mean money.
Provider energy means:
-
reliability, stick -to- itiveness
- reliability, being there….also showing up!
-
steadiness , stability, calm under huge big life real pressures
-
initiative, inertia (go forward movement)
-
spiritual leadership
-
integrity
-
courage, being bold
-
preparedness
-
emotional stability
-
responsibility
-
sacrificial strength
-
and enough leader, family, marriage prayer covering
A provider at his core brings:
Security + Direction + Stability.
This is what protects a woman’s heart.
This is what allows her to flourish.
This is what enables a covenant to thrive
III. FIRST LET’S START WITH THE BIBLE SUBMITTED MAN
A Man ‘that God SENT Choice Wife” Must First BECOME “Realistic,” Not naive, pie in the sky, escapist
A godly man does not seek a wife out of:
✘ loneliness
✘ fear
✘ panic
✘ competition
✘ insecurity
✘ impulse
He seeks her from a place of quality Real Life Pure Motived relaxed readiness.
He works on:
- his own inner and outer real life WORK
This means his
- his spiritual maturity
-
his inner character
- his esteem
-
his calling
-
his finances
-
his personal habits
-
his discipline
-
his habits of prayer
-
and his walk with God
- Not before.
PS the Christ following man SEEKS A WIFE ONLY when, after he is ready finanicially and is sound spiritually and emotionally.
to respect, give up his own wants choices, even expectations and to be the Man of the Most High God, who is imperfect, but sound, in the best of his choices and ability. This is ROLE but it has many offshoots, high real pressures and God called role modeling, yet it also comes with SUPREME WARFARE (“the world, the flesh and the devil” PLUS the OTHER PERSONS ISSUES.
Also the Christian man, is moved only by the SPIRIT not by looks, flesh or deceptive false vanity. (and the right Christian women is not moved by that either!)

IV. NOW LETS ADDRESS THE MIGHTY WOMAN
According to Proverbs The Woman’s Calling: Flourish, Not Chase
The mature Christian woman:
-
builds her life
-
develops her calling
-
invests in her purpose
-
deepens her walk with God
-
cultivates inner beauty
-
commits to growth
-
becomes whole
-
matures emotionally
-
seeks wisdom
-
cultivates excellence
She does not shrink to find a man.
She does not seek from emptiness.
She does not settle because of time.
She does not diminish her calling to attract attention.
She becomes the fullness of who God made her to be.
Then—
when a godly man arrives,
he finds a flourishing woman.
Not a fractured one.
V. The Biblical Balance
He seeks.
She becomes.
He pursues from strength.
She embraces from fullness.
He approaches in readiness.
She receives in confidence.
He carries provider energy.
She carries flourishing purpose.
Together…
they become a testimony.
VI. Final Thought
A man without provider energy cannot protect a covenant.
A woman without identity in Christ cannot last in one.
The man goes out seeking.
The woman keeps on growing.
Then, together—
they build.

“Single in Christ, I am complete in Him”
Backstory: These are words from a long ago song composed by an area songwriter who happened to come to my ministry prayer meetings, back in VA in the mid 1990s. RESEARCH I would love to feature his entire song and honor him with the credit’ (will try to Google if) SINGLE IN CHRIST from Petersburg, VA and African American. But apologies, forget his name.
“JESUS YOU’RE THE CENTER OF MY JOY”
(also an old Christian praise song from the same time period)

Singles in the U.S. (asked Chat GPT AI this am)
According to the Pew Research Center (2020), about 31 % of U.S. adults say they are single — meaning they are not married, not living with a partner, and not in a committed romantic relationship.
Pew Research Center
The U.S. Census Bureau reports that in 2022 approximately 46.4 % of U.S. adults are unmarried (i.e., never-married, divorced, or widowed) — roughly 117.6 million individuals ages 18 + in that category.

Other sources state around 51 % of Americans are in the “single” (unmarried) category.
HCMMLaw
Note: “Single” is defined in different studies in different ways: some strictly “not partnered/romantic relationship,” others “unmarried” (which includes divorced or widowed). That means interpretation must be careful.
Singles in Church / Religious Contexts
According to an article by the Missio Alliance, a study by Table for One Ministries reported that only about 23 % of adult churchgoers are single.
Missio Alliance
Research also suggests that among single adults (never married) church attendance is lower: for example, one source found 42 % of never-married adults reported weekly church attendance, compared to 53 % of married or widowed adults.
North Carolina Family Policy Council
Another analysis noted that among never-married adults in 2022, only about 40–45 % of unmarried men and women identified as Protestant or Catholic (i.e., affiliated with a church). The share of those unaffiliated (“nones”) was about half.
GetReligion
Putting it together & observations
Roughly 1 in 3 U.S. adults report being “single” in the narrower sense (no partner or committed relationship) according to Pew.
In the broader “unmarried” sense (including divorced/widowed), nearly half of U.S. adults fall into that category.
In church-attending populations, singles appear to be under-represented compared to their share in the general adult population (e.g., the ~23 % figure for single adult churchgoers is markedly below 31 % or 46 % general).
Among never-married adults, church affiliation and attendance are lower than among married adults, and trends suggest increasing religious non-affiliation among single/unmarried groups.
