A PEOPLE’S MINISTRY<\/h1>\n

A Personal Statement of Calling, Biblical Order, and Mutual Respect<\/h3>\n

My calling has always been to people. Throughout many years of ministry, I have worked with, counseled, advised, listened to, and trained both men and women, with much of my ministry experience involving men, including Christian leaders, husbands, fathers, and fellow servants of the Lord.<\/p>\n

I have never understood my calling primarily through the lens of gender. My concern is the condition of the human heart, the integrity of Christian leadership, the fear of the Lord, and the quality of our relationships with God and one another.<\/p>\n

Perhaps it helps to understand something about my background and personality. I was raised with respect for men and women, including traditional understandings of marriage, family responsibility, and the husband as head of the home. I continue to respect that biblical understanding. Yet I also believe that biblical headship must be understood through the character of Jesus Christ, never as permission for domination, intimidation, or the diminishing of another person.<\/p>\n

Ephesians 5:21 instructs believers, “Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”<\/strong> I regard this as an essential principle of Christian character and relationship, including within marriage, ministry, and the wider Body of Christ.<\/p>\n

I do not believe that mutual submission abolishes distinctions in responsibility or leadership. Rather, it requires that those who carry responsibility exercise it with humility, wisdom, accountability, and reverence for God.<\/p>\n

In my own ministry, I am careful about the use of spiritual authority. I do not believe that having a calling gives me ownership over another person’s conscience, decisions, or relationship with the Lord. I counsel, teach, reason, and offer what I believe God has entrusted to me, while recognizing that each person must ultimately answer to Him.<\/p>\n

I am not seeking to establish female superiority, challenge men simply because they are men, or enter into a competition for authority. That has never been my personal motivation or the pattern of relationships in which I was raised.<\/p>\n

I have known and respected many honorable Christian men across racial, cultural, and denominational backgrounds. Men who demonstrate integrity, kindness, responsibility, spiritual maturity, and genuine respect for women deserve acknowledgment rather than suspicion.<\/p>\n

At the same time, I have encountered religious teachings and ministry cultures that place excessive emphasis on gender, authority, rank, and submission, sometimes elevating men beyond biblical accountability while unnecessarily restricting or diminishing women. Such attitudes are not confined to any one race, denomination, or cultural group. They deserve careful biblical examination rather than personal accusation.<\/p>\n

I believe the Church needs a renewed examination of these matters, not merely another human tradition or a fashionable response to contemporary culture. We must prayerfully seek the heart of God, study the Scriptures, and distinguish between genuine biblical order and traditions that may have become confused with divine authority.<\/p>\n

On a personal note, I have never been particularly inclined toward the familiar stereotypes of feminine ministry. I often say that I do not think in pink. My colors are sunny yellow and happy sky blue! I enjoy relating to people as people, and I have often found a natural ease in working with men. This does not make me masculine, nor does it make other women less capable or less valuable. It is simply part of who I am.<\/p>\n

My ministry is not built upon proving that I belong. I believe God has given me work to do, developed over time through Scripture, prayer, revelation as I understand it, experience, and many years of observing Christian leadership and relationships.<\/p>\n

I believe there is room in the Body of Christ for men and women to serve according to God’s calling, without suspicion, rivalry, religious performance, or the constant need to establish who is more important.<\/p>\n

My emphasis is EORR: Equal Opportunity REAL Respect<\/strong>, grounded in A.R.T. Abiding Relationship Theology. We are called to represent Jesus Christ faithfully, not merely defend our preferred religious arrangements.<\/p>\n

This is a ministry to people. Its central concern is the heart of God, the Word of God, and the conduct of those who profess His name.<\/p>\n
