Honoring Jeff Wright: My late brother in law, a one woman Christian real man, a fine gentleman,a great dad…who confided every once in a while, that he’d had a very hard time with women’s form fitting, revealing, tight, ‘worship team outfits (usually snug slacks,tight tops, fitted outfits, NO COVERING “OVERSIZED\/ LONG TEES”) as they danced before the Lord, moved around and “sung”, And HE was no prude.” (I want to include skin tight jeans with short crop tops in this) Some are very busty.<\/em><\/p>\n

Second:<\/strong> THIS WAS A\u00a0 FAD FOR A WHILE: At one, during the 2005-2012 ‘s or so I, Taveau,\u00a0 HAD A\u00a0 VERY HARD PROBLEM when the females on stage ministry (certain quarters in Dallas area) were wearing those many\u00a0 silky, shiny material (and similar exact cut) as a slip \/ lingerie top\/camisole… on stage worship ministry, (Seriously. It bothered me!!! Embarrassed me.)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Third:<\/strong> A few years, I attended a great worship conference. The pastors and leaders\u00a0 running the conference were wise. I am the kind of worshipper who\u00a0 enjoys long praise and worship and at times going up to front to dance\u00a0 or be in God’s presence. (if , when Holy Spirit leads me).<\/em><\/p>\n

During the good long worship\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 a young ,attractive female, who was dressed very provocatively,\u00a0 \u00a0came\u00a0 in, went directly up to the front and began to move and sway and dance..She was NOT in “spirit of the Lord” . Rather it was ‘the spirit of the evil one” and\u00a0 an intentional\u00a0 distraction,as she was\u00a0 immodest (under clothed) and danced “BIG” that it\u00a0 was hard\u00a0 to pay attention to the worship. . The\u00a0 lady was in her 20’s or early 30’s was moving so much that it was clearly demonic. And as I\u00a0 watched, I\u00a0 felt concern and wondered how the leaders would respond.<\/em><\/p>\n

I very blessed to see that these wise, mature pastors,leaders\u00a0 had a Game Plan ready for such: A Large Tee Shirt. I observed the elders respectfully and calmly\u00a0 go over to her, speak with her and”bless” her with a pre-planned cover up tee shirt… which she did put on. . I was greatly touched and fully\u00a0 respected the leadership team’s\u00a0 healthy wise PRE PLANNING.<\/em><\/p>\n

And I want to share this GREAT IDEA , (Good memories Fort Worth)<\/em><\/p>\n

In every generation,<\/strong> God raises up leaders\u2014priests, prophets, apostles, shepherds, and ministers. Yet Scripture shows a sobering pattern: many fall short of His glory (Romans 3:23), not only through private failure but also by misrepresenting Him publicly<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

d. To be hip like<\/strong> all the other sister, many brothers<\/span><\/p>\n

e. To get noticed, be filmed f<\/strong>or our social media?<\/span><\/p>\n

The Christian Idolatry of Cultural Relevance?<\/span><\/h2>\n

In today\u2019s TV Media, Social Media, Hollywood “making it big” even in church culture…and being ‘influential” and fawned over…is a preferred ‘custom” now..in this\u00a0 image-saturated<\/strong> culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back DFW in 2013-16 I got this PHRASE in my spirit (<\/strong>Back then people were falling off of cliffs, right and left, taking selfies and social media was increasingly\u00a0 rampant) (“effects of Play Time Fantasy in Show biz and media America”)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

“WHO PUT THE “ELF” IN SELFIE?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe society pull, acceptance, the culture of most churches, top ministries affects and established the way Christian ministers (in that group and in general media affected population) <\/strong>present themselves<\/strong>\u2014meaning on stage, in public, and even in private\u2014sends a powerful message. Is the emphasis on God’s presence or personal branding<\/strong>? On holiness or hype<\/strong>? <\/span><\/p>\n

This discussion examines how Scripture views appearance<\/strong>, clothing<\/strong>, and attire<\/strong> in ministry and what that means today.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. God\u2019s View of Outer Garments in Leadership
\nIs it fear of the Lord “holiness” or hot fashion?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      The priest wasn\u2019t supposed to \u201cperform\u201d<\/strong> on stage\u2014but to minister before the Lord<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

      2. Stage Ministry Appearance: Calling for Reverence, Not People Pleasing<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

      KEY POINT:<\/strong> In today\u2019s ministry, stage presence can blur into performance. Fashion, lights, and branding are not sinful\u2014but can be substitutes<\/strong> for spiritual anointing.<\/span><\/p>\n

      \u201cMan looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.\u201d<\/em><\/span>

      Yet appearance does matter\u2014because people see you before they hear you.<\/em><\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

      But God never intended stage ministry to be a fashion show<\/strong> or self-promotion<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

        REALITY CHECK: WHILE THAT RESPONSE, IS SORT OF VALUE, TO A POINT. the bigger picture is ARE RATIONALIZING, TO GET WHAT YOU WANT?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

        Regarding the COOL, SEDUCTIVE COOL LOOK: : ARE YOU, I, THEY\u00a0 THE HOLY SPIRIT? <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

        He’s for greater and bigger than that! AND MUCH BETTER THAN THAT ….!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

        Modern Pitfall: Performance Garb vs. Priestly Robes<\/span><\/h3>\n

        Some ministers wear trendy fashion to relate. Others wear robes for tradition. But neither style justifies pride<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

        3. Public Ministry Appearance: Representing Christ in Culture<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

        A Christian leader in public is a walking witness<\/strong>. People see:<\/span><\/p>\n

                5. Balancing Modesty, Cultural Relevance, and Spiritual Authority<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

                In ministry, clothing should:<\/p>\n

                Reflect God’s holiness and honor<\/strong><\/span>

                Fit the cultural context without compromising integrity<\/strong><\/span>
                Demonstrate servanthood<\/strong>, not fashion slave<\/span><\/p>\n

                Try to have a modicum of Christ like dignity<\/span><\/p>\n

                Jesus warned of leaders who dressed religiously but lived hypocritically<\/strong>. Today, ministers must guard against becoming “Instagram holy”<\/strong> but inwardly cold<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

                \nConclusion: Wear Christ, Not Just Clothes

                The greatest garment a minister can wear is Christ Himself<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

                          TD POINT:<\/strong> Many, if not most, of God’s people\u00a0 are dressing to please themselves, to please others which is TEMPERAL EARTHLY PERSPECTIVE …meaning “for themselves” In Ministry however, one serves the Lord and it is extremely important to live to please ONLY Him!<\/p>\n

                          A Ministry Perspective: Holy Terror, Fear of the Lord
